True! But I think it's sweet and adorable and if I wanna call you a softie, I am so gonna do it.
[ You can't stop him, Vergil. No one can stop him!
He's enjoying all this attention, though, leaning into it and looking at Vergil with those doe eyes he always does have for him. Much as Zulius is obnoxious and loud at all times, moments like this? He does genuinely treasure. He's proud of how far Vergil has come!]
Oh, Boo, you're giving it to me, I know I'll love it. [ A wicked little grin crosses his lips. ] Even if I might laugh a little! But it'll be a loving laugh! C'mon, let's go! I wanna seeeee!
Be me the last person in Kaisou to stop you from doing anything. If I am one day accused of being an enabler, I will recall this moment and lament that I had no other choice.
[ there's a bit of a sigh to his voice, but it's clear that it's an attempt at being dramatic--but the monotone voice doesn't deliver it perfectly. Day that ends in Y.
He'll reach forward to pick up the tray he'd delivered Zulius in bed, now clear of most of its breakfast, and he'll head towards Zulius' kitchen to put it away. ]
Very well. I won't torture you with waiting much longer. [ he'll offer the other a hand as he comes back around, giving Zulius a moment to grab anything he might need before they head out. ]
[That pulls a giggle out of him as he dramatically puts a hand to his forehead - he gets what Vergil is trying to put down, and he'll up the ante where his partner cannot, happy to fill in the gaps. ]
See? You just had no choice! I totally twisted your arm. What else could you have done? You poor, poor, soul.
[ Zulius is up and ready in record time, because he really IS curious about what Vergil can possibly have gotten him. As soon as that hand if offered, he's eager to take it, giving it a little squeeze.]
I doubt I will recover, but it is fine. I can live with such things.
[ he's learned to live with a lot. and having this man be part of his life isn't something he finds so terrible that he'd do anything to fight against it, after all.
Taking the others' hand in his own, he lifts it for just a moment to brush his lips against the back of it for a moment, before tucking it in against his arm, leading the other out for a walk.
It isn't a long walk, by any meaning of the word--the place he has in mind isn't terribly far from Zulius' own theatre after all. Mind like a steel trap as it is, Vergil has never forgotten the location, even if he and his partner hadn't been there in the recent few months. Likely it'd been damaged a year back when the Demons ravaged the city and tore through the place like they owned it--but fortunately it'd recovered.
And what 'it' was, of course, was a certain little cafe. A poetry cafe--the location of the first date they went on outside of Zulius' own theatre. The place where Vergil had quiety first decided that perhaps Zulius wasn't some strange, terrifying beast trying to break him out of his comfortable solitude and introduce him to some wild life he wasn't ready for.
A place where he realised that maybe he was a little lonely, after all--and that someone like Zulius was what he needed to finally accept that even people like him deserved something like family and friends. ]
You are such a brave and noble soldier. We are all so proud of you. A moment of silence for our hero.
[Even if he's grinning playfully, he does a theatrical little sniff.
As always, the kiss of his hand makes Zulius' heart does a little flip-flop in his chest. Will he ever stop getting all swoony over such a simple and sweet gesture? Signs pointed to no. Little things like that were so patently Vergil and they meant the world to him.
Honestly, even if Vergil had deigned to just... take him for a walk, Zulius would have enjoyed it. He genuinely loves being in his partner's steady, comforting presence. And for a while, he really does just enjoy the walk, chattering away about various things and people they pass on their way. White noise for their journey.
As soon as he sees the cafe and realises where Vergil is bringing them, though, he lets out a soft gasp, giving Vergil's hand a squeeze. He remembers this date very well. He already knew at that point he'd got it pretty bad for Vergil - that his playful flirting was deeper than he really liked to admit to himself. That he'd finally found someone he would risk his patched-together heart up for. It was a special date, and as such it made the place special, too. ]
Veeeerg! It's our little cafe! This is so cute! And you're right, they did!
Of course you recognized it, I expect nothing less of you. [ after all, hadn't it been Zulius who'd found the place first? he'd gone out of his way to find 'date spots' that Vergil would have a hard time saying no to--catering to the stuffy man's sense of taste instead of trying to force him out of his shell.
Noone did that. And yet, Zulius did it without so much as a second thought. The man was as thoughtful as much as he was flashy, and noone is prepared for it until it's too late. ]
Sleeping in a little before our trip today may have worked in your favor. I believe they only serve sweets after 11am. Choose whatever little cakes they have on their menu--you should have the queen's choice for your birthday.
Of course, I did! It was one of my favourite dates! You flirted with me during for it and everything. I was very charmed by you.
[ Zulius has desperately looked for quieter, calmer places for his paramour to go to. He knows his own style is loud and bright, and not always places Vergil would especially feel comfortable in. That was important, after all. They were fundamentally very different people, and that meant having to slide into someone else's comfort zone once in a while.
And frankly? Vergil was more than worth that. ]
You are so right they do! You timed this so well, that was super sneaky of you and I will be remembering how sneaky you can be in the future, Boo. You are gonna regret this offer, I am gonna have SO MANY little cakes.
[He's gonna give Vergil's arm a little tug, his usual request for the man to duck down a little more to his level- so he can press a little kiss on his cheek. ]
Thank you, Verg. Really. This is so sweet of you. I love it. I love you.
